Your Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Discover Aswan
Philae Temple
Your tour begins at Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. This impressive temple complex is located on Agilkia Island and is considered one of Egypt’s most beautiful ancient sanctuaries.
Your Egyptologist will tell you the fascinating story of the temple and explain how it was relocated to its present site as part of an international UNESCO rescue campaign following the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
Aswan High Dam
Next, visit the Aswan High Dam. Its construction created Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest artificial lakes, and the dam continues to play an important role in Egypt’s electricity generation and water management.
Unfinished Obelisk
At the ancient granite quarry, you will gain fascinating insights into the stoneworking techniques of the ancient Egyptians. The Unfinished Obelisk demonstrates the enormous scale and precision involved in creating the monumental stone structures of ancient Egypt.
Overnight Stay in Aswan
After your sightseeing program in Aswan, you will spend the night in a comfortable 4-star hotel. After breakfast the next morning, you will continue your journey to Abu Simbel.
Day 2 – Abu Simbel
Journey to Abu Simbel
You will leave Aswan at around 5:00 a.m. and travel to Abu Simbel in your private vehicle. The journey takes approximately three hours.
Great Temple of Abu Simbel
The Great Temple of Ramesses II is one of ancient Egypt’s most famous monuments. Four colossal seated statues of the pharaoh dominate its immense façade, while impressive reliefs and the temple sanctuary await you inside.
Your Egyptologist will also explain the extraordinary international UNESCO rescue operation of the 1960s, during which the temples were cut into large stone blocks and reconstructed on higher ground to protect them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
Temple of Queen Nefertari
Next to the Great Temple, you will visit the Temple of Queen Nefertari, dedicated to Nefertari and the goddess Hathor.
Its monumental façade is particularly remarkable because Nefertari is depicted almost the same size as Ramesses II—an exceptional representation of a queen in ancient Egyptian royal art.
Return Journey to Hurghada
After visiting the temples of Abu Simbel, you will return to Aswan. Following lunch, you will begin the journey back to your hotel on the Red Sea.
Optional Upgrade: Extend Your Tour to 3 Days / 2 Nights
+150 € per person.
Day 3 – Nubian Culture & Nile Experience
Felucca Cruise on the Nile
Begin your day with a peaceful sailing trip aboard a traditional Egyptian felucca and enjoy the scenery of the Nile around Aswan and its islands.
Visit to a Nubian Village
Continue by boat to a Nubian village, where you will gain insights into Nubian traditions, language, architecture, and everyday life.
Lunch and Return Journey
After lunch, you will begin the return journey to your hotel on the Red Sea.
overnight stay in a 4-star hotel in Aswan.
A Personal Tip from Our Egyptologist
17 years of experience as an Egyptologist and more than 3,000 guided tours throughout Egypt.
Abu Simbel may be the main reason many travelers choose this journey, but I recommend taking just as much time to appreciate Philae Temple. Its relocation to Agilkia Island is an important part of the same international effort that helped preserve Nubia’s monuments following the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
