Your Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Hurghada → Cairo | Pyramids of Giza and Great Sphinx

Your tour begins early in the morning with pick-up directly from your hotel on the Red Sea and onward travel to Cairo according to your booked itinerary.

In Cairo, your Egyptologist will welcome you and accompany you to the Giza Plateau.

Here, visit the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World.

Next, visit the Great Sphinx of Giza, which is associated with Pharaoh Khafre and his pyramid complex.

After sightseeing, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cairo.

Overnight stay: Cairo

Day 2 – Cairo | Grand Egyptian Museum → Flight to Aswan

After breakfast, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) near the Giza Plateau.

Together with your Egyptologist, discover important exhibits spanning several millennia of Egyptian history and gain a comprehensive insight into the world of the pharaohs.

Afterward, transfer to Cairo Airport for your domestic flight to Aswan.

Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation.

Overnight stay: Aswan

Day 3 – Abu Simbel → Aswan | Beginning of the Nile Cruise

Your excursion to Abu Simbel, south of Aswan, begins early in the morning.

Here, visit the two monumental rock-cut temples of Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari.

The Great Temple of Ramesses II impresses visitors immediately with the four colossal seated statues of the pharaoh on its façade. Directly beside it stands the smaller temple dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Queen Nefertari.

During the 20th century, the temple complex was rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser as part of an international UNESCO campaign and reconstructed on higher ground.

After your visit, return to Aswan.

You will then board your Nile cruise ship. This marks the beginning of your multi-day journey along the Nile from Aswan toward Luxor.

Overnight stay: On board
Meals: Full board

Day 4 – Aswan | Philae, High Dam and Unfinished Obelisk → Kom Ombo

Today, discover some of Aswan’s most important sights.

First, visit Philae Temple, which is now located on Agilkia Island. The temple complex was primarily dedicated to the goddess Isis and was relocated to its present site as part of the UNESCO rescue project.

Next, visit the Aswan High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarries.

Your Nile cruise ship will then continue toward Kom Ombo.

There, visit the extraordinary Double Temple of Kom Ombo, whose symmetrical design is dedicated to two deities: Sobek and Haroeris.

Afterward, the cruise continues along the Nile.

Overnight stay: On board
Meals: Full board

Day 5 – Edfu → Luxor | Temple of Horus and Luxor Temple

In the morning, visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of Egypt’s best-preserved ancient temples.

The remarkably well-preserved temple complex dates from the Ptolemaic period and was dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus.

After your visit, return to the ship and continue cruising toward Luxor.

After arriving in Luxor, visit Luxor Temple in the heart of the modern city, depending on the cruise ship’s sailing schedule.

Overnight stay: On board
Meals: Full board

Day 6 – Luxor | Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut and Karnak → Flight to Cairo

After breakfast and disembarkation, your sightseeing program in Luxor begins.

On the West Bank, first visit the famous Valley of the Kings, where numerous New Kingdom pharaohs had their rock-cut tombs constructed.

Next, visit the terraced Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the monumental Colossi of Memnon.

The tour then continues to the East Bank and the extensive Karnak Temple Complex, with its monumental pylons, obelisks and famous Hypostyle Hall.

Depending on the actual travel and cruise schedule, the Luxor visits will be arranged so that all attractions in the standard itinerary are included.

Afterward, transfer to Luxor Airport for your domestic flight to Cairo.

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight stay: Cairo

Day 7 – Cairo | Islamic and Coptic Cairo → Return Journey

After breakfast, discover more historic sides of the Egyptian capital.

Visit the Citadel of Saladin with its distinctive Muhammad Ali Mosque and explore selected attractions in Islamic and Coptic Cairo.

Depending on the schedule, the historic Khan el-Khalili Bazaar will also be included in the program.

You will then be transferred to the airport or begin the return journey according to your booked itinerary.

After seven varied days, your tour ends back at your hotel on the Red Sea.

A Personal Tip from Our Egyptologist

17 years of experience as an Egyptologist and more than 3,000 guided tours throughout Egypt.

During this tour, pay attention to how architecture and religious beliefs changed across different historical periods. At Giza, you will encounter the monumental royal tombs of the Old Kingdom; in Luxor, the great temples and royal tombs of the New Kingdom; and at Edfu and Kom Ombo, important temple complexes from later periods.

This historical range is what makes the tour particularly fascinating. You will not only visit many famous sights but also gain a comprehensive understanding of different periods of ancient Egyptian history.
