Your Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Pyramids of Giza and Grand Egyptian Museum

You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning and transferred to Hurghada Airport. After your flight to Cairo, your Egyptologist will meet you for the first part of your tour.

Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx

On the Giza Plateau, visit the famous pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. Afterward, visit the Great Sphinx, with its lion’s body and human head.

Admission to the interior of certain pyramids is not included in the standard ticket and may be booked separately, subject to availability.

Lunch

After sightseeing, enjoy lunch at a carefully selected restaurant.

Grand Egyptian Museum

Next, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) near Giza.

Its extensive collections take you through different periods of ancient Egyptian history. Highlights include the Tutankhamun Galleries, monumental statues, and numerous original artifacts.

Flight to Aswan

In the evening, fly from Cairo to Aswan. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your 4-star hotel in Aswan.

Day 2 – Abu Simbel and Aswan

The journey to Abu Simbel begins early in the morning. The drive from Aswan takes approximately three hours each way.

Temples of Abu Simbel

The two monumental rock-cut temples of Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari await you on the shores of Lake Nasser.

The four colossal seated statues on the façade of the Great Temple are among the most famous representations of Ramesses II. Inside, monumental pillared halls and elaborate reliefs lead to the sanctuary.

The smaller temple is equally extraordinary: Nefertari is depicted on its façade at almost the same height as Ramesses II—a rare form of royal representation in ancient Egypt.

Your Egyptologist will also explain the Abu Simbel sun phenomenon and the international rescue operation of the 1960s. During this remarkable project, the temples were dismantled into large stone blocks and reconstructed on higher ground to protect them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.

Aswan High Dam

After returning to Aswan, visit the High Dam and learn about its role in the creation of Lake Nasser and the changes its construction brought to the region.

Lunch and Felucca Cruise

After lunch, enjoy a felucca cruise on the Nile and experience Aswan from the water.

In the evening, you can stroll through Aswan’s bazaar before returning to your hotel.

Day 3 – Philae, Nubian Village and the Nile Landscape

The final day is dedicated to Aswan and its Nubian surroundings.

Philae Temple

Travel by boat to Philae Temple on Agilkia Island. The temple complex is primarily dedicated to the goddess Isis. It was rescued from the rising waters as part of an international UNESCO campaign and reconstructed on the island.

Unfinished Obelisk

Next, visit the Unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarry. This monument, which remains attached to the bedrock, provides remarkable insights into the techniques the ancient Egyptians used to create their immense stone monuments.

Nubian Village

Continue by boat to a Nubian village, where you will gain insights into Nubian traditions, language, architecture, and everyday life.

Boat Trip Through the Nile Landscape

Your journey continues through the landscape surrounding the First Cataract of the Nile. From the water, you will see the area around the Mausoleum of the Aga Khan and the historic Old Cataract Hotel.

Lunch and Return Journey to Hurghada

After lunch, begin the return journey by private vehicle to Hurghada or your booked hotel on the Red Sea.

A Personal Tip from Our Egyptologist

17 years of experience as an Egyptologist and more than 3,000 guided tours throughout Egypt.

In Aswan, it is especially worthwhile to consider how the different sights are connected. The High Dam fundamentally transformed the region and made the international rescue of numerous Nubian monuments necessary. Both Abu Simbel and Philae were relocated as part of this extraordinary international campaign.
